Bud and Lorie Were Out to Have Fun!

Bud and Lorie may have won the first place trophy for having put on the most miles while on vacation. They spent time in Punta Mita on the beach in front of the El Dorado Restaurant, traveled east to San Sebastian to see this quaint silver mining town and buy a bottle of home brewed tequila, continued south past Puerto Vallarta to El Tuito and then north to Mismaloya (The Night of the Iguana).

Of course, Bud and Lorie did not do all of this in one day. After all, Bahia de Banderas is one of the largest bays in the world, stretching 42 miles (not sure if that takes into consideration the curvature or if it is as the crow flies). Not bad....

Following are comments they sent us to explain their excursions:

Hi Bob and Mary Ann,

As I mentioned before we had a great time, very memorable and adventuresome.

The facility was terrific, 7th floor, ocean view and the building with the Brio Spa on the ground floor.

Thanks again for your efforts. They kept calling me Mr Jones all week. I hope our bad behavior didn't sully your reputation. HA!

Because we had the car we went over to the Marival Hotel for our tennis where we met a wonderful tennis pro who gave us some tips for places to visit. Between him and the research we did on the web we had a full week.

From Punta Mita in the north of the Bay Of Bandaras to Mismaloya in the south we found some great beaches and small Mexican towns. In the north we shared a boat and went out into the Pacific to see the whales which was very exciting.

One day we traveled south for about 3 hours into the mountains to El Tuito. A typical Mexican Mountain village. I found this on the web. On visiting the church Lorie, who speaks pretty good Spanish, befriended a 7 year old boy who became our tour guide. He took us to the homes of the ladies who made the cheese, bread and cookies. I think these people were just as fascinated with us as we were with them.

On another day we traveled east for about 2.5 hours, again into the mountains but great views this time, to San Sebastian del Oeste. Tiny village, 600 souls, but gorgeous. Bautiful town square with cafes and old buildings surrounding the square. The people were very gracious and helpful. We had lunch in an open air restaurant covered by palm fronds where the tortillas were made in front of us. Outside of town we stopped in a hacienda where they made tequilla one bottle at a time (elabrado artesanalmente, or handmade). The owner spoke English and explained the process to us "no stainless steel vats all natural". We tasted 3 types and bought a bottle.

Some friends of ours in NJ who are familiar with PV suggested some restaurants on the south side of PV, The "romantic zone"which were great. Next time you go mail me for their names.

Otherwise we sat at the Luxxxxxxe pool (quietest) or were at the spa.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with Bucerias, a small town just a few miles north of Neuvo V. Great restaurant on the beach and an "art walk" on thursday nights.

Regards,

Bud & Lorie

Clearly Bud and Lorie had a great time visiting a number of interesting places, all away from Puerto Vallarta. Their photos provide a great feel for some of the places they saw.

Would you like to see a slide show of all the photos? Just click on the first photo of the group on the left. Yes, you are correct. This unnamed photo is called Sunset on the Beach.

What fun!

Bud and Lorie's Escursions - February 5 - 12, 2011

First Night - February 5, 2011
Bud and Lorie explored many places in the Mexican states of Nayarit and Jalisco.

This photo was taken on February 5, 2011, the day they arrived at the Grand Mayan Resort in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. They rented a car and visited a number of interesting places, including El Tuito, Mismaloya, Punta Mita and San Sebastian. Bud an Lorie were able to visit both El Tuito and Mismaloya in one day.

Their home base was the Grand Mayan Resort, which is located in Nuevo Vallarta on the Vida Vacation Club (Grupo Vidanta) Mayan property where the Grand Luxxe, Grand Bliss and Mayan Palace resorts are located as well.

Bud and Lorie spent four of their seven days in the car. Maybe more, because we are not sure how many other places they visited.

Definitely adventuresome, that is for sure!

Thank you Bud and Lorie...
