Vidanta Alegria - Underway - Heading to the Mediterranean Sea

November 17, 2017

On September 28, 2017, Vidanta Alegria left a Singapore dry dock to Salalah, Oman, which is about 3,000 nautical miles away from Singapore. The ship arrived Shalalah on October 8, 2017 in the late evening and departed the next day for new destinations.

Since leaving Salalah, satellite positions indicate the ship is heading for the Red Sea, the Gulf of Suez, the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea. Vidanta Alegria is now in the Red Sea and about 700 miles south of the entrance to the Suez Canal and about 800 miles from the Mediterranean Sea.

The following maps are updated when possible showing where Vidanta Alegria was according to information obtained from MarineTraffic.com and Google Earth. Although the destination provided by MarineTraffic.com is the Red Sea Area for now, the site does state Monday, October 23, 2017 is the current estimated arrival date at the ship's next destination - Cadiz, Spain. In fact, Vidanta Alegria did arrive Cadiz, Spain as reported.

Images of the port at Cadiz indicate there is a dry dock next to the dock where Vidanta Alegria is tied. We also learned after the conclusion of the Vidanta annual meeting that cruises are likely to begin in 2019. Also, a member of the sales department reported that the number of berths will be reduced to accommodate 300 guests, not the current configuration for over 600. Is it possible the Vidanta Alegria will be changed more to meet the needs of Vidanta members? It appears likely the Vidanta Alegria will stay in Cadiz for a while. Stay tuned....!
