March 18, 2016
Frank_J was in Nuevo Vallarta during the week of March 12, 2016 and he sent us photos:- Of the maps on the Sales Department's Wall
- Of construction progress at Tower 5
- Of changes taking place on the north side of Towers 3 and the SPA Towers
- Of a new structure that looks like it could be a taxi stand
- Update - the Punta Tower Mystery Construction
Bob and Mary Ann,
This message is intended to provide an update regarding Building 5A at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta.
During an update meeting we were told the following regarding this area of the resort:
- Building 5A now under construction is the first of nine buildings to be built in this area, referred to as buildings 5A & 5B, 6A & 6B, 7A & 7B, 8A & 8B and 9
Attached are several photos of Building 5A and of resort layout plans (showing the possible layout of the future buildings) taken on March 10th.
- Building 5A will have a pool on top that is 5 times larger than the Residence pool and it will have seating all around it
- Building 5A will be 18 feet taller than the Residence building (?)
- Building 5A will have 9 floors above the PB level and the top floor will contain 1 bedroom GL Loft units
- Fitness/workout facilities will be provided on one of the floors of 5A
We’ll be here until the 18th if there are any details that I could explore for the group.

Bob, I was finally able to get back in touch with my contact to confirm the following details pertaining to Building 5A:
- The 1 BR Loft units (sleeps 4) will occupy two stories just like the current 2 & 3 BR units and they will be situated at the top of the building
- There will be 40 of the 1 BR Loft units in building 5A
- Below the 1 BR Loft units will be a floor of Studio Loft units (sleeps 2)
- They are targeting a soft opening of building 5A in December 2016

Associated with these 9 new buildings will be a new La Plaza that will be 23 times as large as the existing La Plaza (this appears as a somewhat circular structure in the layouts).
With regard to the train system, the existing train is too small to accommodate the anticipated volume of people to be moved. This will be replaced with a new light rail transit system as used in major cities. The new ‘tunnel’ we travel through in taxis to and from the property is actually the ‘support’ for the new rail lines that will pass over the vehicle roadway.
I trust this helps everyone.

Attached is one more picture of Tower 5A taken from a different location – from the 9th floor of the Grand Mayan. (If you zoom in you can count the number of workers on the north side!)

Also, someone had mentioned a ‘bridge to nowhere’ being built on the south side of the Punta building – the second two photos indicate the work in this area is probably just reconstruction of the canal bank. The ‘boxes’ in the water are simple ‘barges’ being used to ferry dirt from the south side of the canal to the north side where it is being placed on the bank. No sign of anything that would suggest a bridge is being built.

Finally, the latest site layout plans show a series of ponds north of buildings 3 and 4 – no golf course. But, the canal system appears to be contiguous from the Punta point to beside the Residence tower (but not all the way to the Spatium).

This will be all my comments for this trip – it has been great exchanging messages with you again.
