MJ's Review of Riviera Maya Grand Luxxe - February 11 - 18, 2011

February 25, 2011

MJ and her family just returned from their stay at the Grand Luxxe in Riviera Maya and wanted us to post her comments about the resort. Her comments are very interesting and relevant. Enjoy....

Update: Grand Luxxe - Riviera Maya

We just spent a week (Feb 11-18/11) at the Grand Luxxe in Riviera Maya in a 1 Bedroom suite with two teenagers and had lots of room inside and outside with the large balcony for the four of us.

The service was incredible, staff (from the housekeepers to concierges) was amazing and everything we wanted or needed was made available very, very quickly and pleasantly. They even have a pillow menu for you to choose from if you do not like the ones already in the suite.

We did not use our rounds of golf, but did use the Swedish Massages that are part of the package. The Concierge staff arranged to have the Brio staff come to our suite for the massages - very nice touch!

The staff at the main entrance of the GL was courteous and arranged for transportation around the resort via the shuttles; if one wasn't available as you walked out, they made sure one was on its way. There is also a desk at the entrance to the Grand Mayan that provides the same service back to the GL or anywhere else you would like to go to.

The Concierge staff was exceptional and made sure that we felt at welcome, comfortable and at home.

On another note, we were in a Handicapped/Disabled One Bedroom Suite on the main floor for the first few days and then we were moved to a second floor suite at our request, missed having a bathtub.

The Handicapped/Disabled Suite is very well done and there was certainly a lot of thought given to what was required. The main door swings out to the hallway to allow for wheelchair accessibility and all the other doors will accommodate the passage of a wheelchair or scooter.

Both the half bath and full bath are completely handicapped/disabled friendly.
  • There is an extra large wheel-in shower without any obstructions.

  • The bathroom counters are built to allow easy wheelchair access.

  • There are permanent ramps to the patio so that wheelchairs or those using other walking aids can walk/access the patio without any problem.

  • Both sets of patio doors have door locks that are at floor level for easy access.
As there is an extra large shower, there is no bath tub in this suite. For anyone who has family members requiring this type of suite, I hope this information is helpful.

Here are two of several photos that MJ and her family want to share with us:
